New fine Art Nature Photography from the Hawaiian Islands, the Sierra, the Coastal Ranges, the Beaches and the High Deserts

As most of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai offers an amazing diversity of visual landscapes, from the Napali Coast to the peaceful beauty of Bali Hai.

How do you describe the magic of ferns? Graceful gatherings of splayed, arched, dangling, hoovering, floating, hugging, intertwined, solitary, criss crossed, overlapped, calm . . . see?!

The Sierra is a place of stark contrasts that lend themselves to dramatic compositions. I seem to never tire of wandering around in nature hunting for these natural compositions tha leave you breathless.

The rich and varied forests of California's coastal ranges offer many beautiful surprises. I am finally spending more time in the coastal ranges near my home. New work should be coming soon.

Anyone who has been to the red clay cliffs around Sedona has felt their magic. Here are a few images from the place itself, and the rest are either petroglyphs or pictographs. Some of the scratchings or paintings on the cliff walls have been dated back to over 10,000 years ago.

Though much of my work is focused on compositions made from the objects and elements of the natural world, these human artifacts have become such a part of these cliff walls they seem to have merged with the natural world. Yet they carry a deep power that comes from their connection to people from our past.

The structure, lines, and shapes that form in this weathered sandstone are facinating, but occasionally you can find a composition that rises to another level of intrigue and haunting beauty. So far in my wanderings, I have found only a few tafoni compositions I think are special.
